Monday, Monday

The Mamas and the Papas said it best a long time ago: "Monday, Monday, so good to me/Monday, Monday, it was all I hoped it would be."
Let's not get caught up in the fact that yesterday was what is known as "Blue Monday," the day that's been determined to be the one on which more people are depressed than any other day of the year—what with winter weather, Christmas bills finally arriving, cold-weather colds and flu never leaving. . . . You get the idea, now put all that behind you.
Rather, let's consider a new philosophy: Healthy Monday.
Here's a concept that's being pushed by Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health and companies and organizations such as Jenny Craig, Fresh Direct, The American Heart Association, Chartwells, YMCA, American Cancer Society, the Legacy Foundation, American Diabetes Association, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communication.
The idea is simple: Everything starts fresh on Monday.
You let your New Year's resolutions slip by? No problem. It's Monday. Start over.
Things at work are getting crazy? No problem. It's Monday. Re-prioritize.
Caregiver duties getting out of hand? No problem. It's Monday. Reorganize by building or adjusting your caregiver team. Or just grab hold of one of the many caregiving projects with which you are faced and decide that, this day or this week, that is the one you'll deal with. Next Monday you can handle another. And another the Monday after that. One step at a time. One Monday at a time.
You've paid so much attention to others that your own health is slipping? That's a problem. But come Monday, start over. It's Healthy Monday, and you have to take care of your own health. Start now!
So, what are you going to do when Monday comes? Tell me—and all the other caringtoday.com readers—by replying to this entry.
