SEASON'S GREETINGS
The New Year’s Card
The holiday season is a time for memories. But, unfortunately, for those suffering form Alzheimer’s disease and those caring for them, that fact may make the holidays a difficult time as well.
Reflecting this, the Alzheimer’s Association is raising awareness of the disease with a selection of holiday greeting cards, created by individuals participating in the Association’s Memories in the Making art program.
“Art is a form of communication that can be used when words are lost to gain a glimpse into the lives and memories of person with Alzheimer’s,” explains Peter Reed, senior director of programs with the Alzheimer’s Association.
The cards are available in four sets. The Thanksgiving card, by artist Mona, features an autumnal theme. The New Year’s card, by artist Prudy, is a festive firework. And the two holiday cards offer an angel, by artist Leslie, or an Evergreen, by artist Marilyn.
The cards come in packages of 25 ($22). Or people can order a package of 75 customized cards ($102). They are available through the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org./shopforthecause.
Funds received will support various Alzheimer’s Association programs.
