SUDDEN HEARING LOSS

TWO WEEKS AGO I WAS BLOWING MY NOSE AND HEARD A 'POP' IN MY RIGHT EAR. SUDDENLY I COULDN'T HEAR A THING OUT OF IT. I WENT TO EHT ENT DOCTOR AND HE FLUSHED IT OUT TO NO AVAIL. HAS ANYBODY HEARD OF THIS BEFORE? IS THERE ANYTHING THAT I CAN DO ABOUT IT? I'M A LITTLE WORRIED. THANX DAVE

Re: Sudden Hearing Loss

I'm sure many of us have experienced temporary hearing loss, but from the way you lost your hearing I could imagine that you injured yourself from pressure exerted when blowing your nose. I'm no doctor and don't presume to know what is wrong, but I suggest you go back to your ENT guy and explain that your hearing hasn't improved since the procedure and that maybe he should check for another problem. If he's unwilling to do that (which I think would be unlikely), see another doctor for a second opinion. Good luck.

THANX MARC. I'M GOING TO CALL THE ENT ON FRIDAY IF IT'S NOT ANY BETTER. THANX AGAIN.

sudden hearing loss

Hi, about a 6 days ago I was talking on the phone, it was a little weird because I could not hear out of my right ear, next morning I went to beltone, hearing aid specialists, they checked my hearing, it was all gone, I then went to a specialist and he gave me a shot of steroids directly into my ear, I have been taking steroids by mouth, I have to stay on steroids for a week. I have a lot of ringing in my ears, hoping to get hearing back soon, this is so terrifying, I have been told that steroids are the best answer, I have to get more shots directly into my ear, approximately 4. I would love to know if there are people who have similar stories and have gotten there hearing back.

Thanks
