FRED911 Compared to Life Alert

I am not sure where I would go on this site to talk to other people about their experiences with Life Alert or with FRED911. We have just started working with FRED911 and so far we are very pleased with the response that we get when we explain there is no monthly fee and that FRED911 gets you the help you need going directly to your own 911 and not through a phone switchboard that has to call your local 911 without the advantage to the 911 operators of knowing WHO needs help and WHERE they are at with the help of the enhanced 911 systems that are in place in most of the US.

I wanted to know about other people's experience with Life Alert, or any of the other personal security systems out there. I had called Life Alert only to find out that it is a MAJOR effort to get them to give you even an idea of what their lowest prices are, and the installation costs. I was amazed that people have to let them in their homes to get that information most of the time. Is this common?

Please let me know if there is a better place to discuss some of the pros and cons of different systems.

Life Alert

We set a close relative up with Life Alert and she has been really happy with it. She has had to use it twice and both times it worked wonderfully. They got help to her quickly and were very encouraging while she waited. We all think very highly of it and plan on using it for other relatives as the need arises. :)
