Can Tykerb curb HER2 effects?
A recent breast cancer study presented before the American Society of Clinical Oncology, found that women with advanced HER2 breast cancer—which affects 25 to 30 percent of all breast cancer patients—benefited from a new, experimental pill taken during chemotherapy. The study indicates that lapatinib (Tykerb), which is yet to receive FDA approval, slowed the spread of cancer when Herceptin stopped working.
