RELIEVING SMALL BURDENS

While spending time caring for another, you have to find time for yourself.

To alleviate stress, you have to find time to focus on you. And doing a minor chore geared at your well-being—and no one else's—can do the trick. An easy-to-do task when completed provides a sense of accomplishment, making you feel good about you. It doesn't have to be a lot, just enough to remind yourself that you are important, too. Take 10 minutes and see what you can do to make your life easier.

Here are a few ideas:

Clean out your wallet (of things you can file or discard,
not cash)

Organize your desk (the easier it is to find things, the less
you'll stress over thinking you lost something)

Tidy up your drawers (and you'll be amazed when you find
that sweater that makes you feel great when you wear it)

Make a call for an appointment you've been putting off
(whether it's to the doctor or the hairdresser, it will make
you feel better)

"Seasonize" your closet (not having to cull through summer
clothes in mid-winter will speed up your morning routine)

Run a fun errand (maybe pick up some flowers for the
dinner table just because it'll make you happy)

Make a list of other "for you" chores (so you'll be set
for the week!)
